   Proposal Description:
   Declining glucose metabolism is a biomarker for Alzheimer???s disease (AD), and   occurs prior to the onset of symptoms. The primary aim of our study is to         identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with changes in        glucose metabolism that could reveal the underlying mechanisms associated with    AD progression. The secondary aim is to link these common variants to aspects     of AD progression, including conversion risk and longitudinal change in memory.   The requested data will include genetic, imaging, clinical and cognitive data     to first, identify these common variants associated with glucose metabolism,      and secondly, link them to clinical and cognitive change. We expect to identify   genetic polymorphisms that are associated with functional brain changes in AD.    Furthermore, we hypothesize that these variants will affect risk or progression   of the disease. This study will provide insight into the common genetic           variation that influences AD vulnerability and highlight key biological           pathways involved in AD onset and progression.
